The two picturesque villages of Nieder- and Oberrasen lie just at the beginning of the Antholzertal, a valley which is surrounded by deep green forests and the high mountains of the Riesenferner and the Hochgall (3,440 m). At the end of the valley you find a wonderfully situated lake, the Antholzer Wildsee, and via the border crossing Stallersattel you reach another lake, the Obersee, and from there you arrive at the neighbouring Defreggental (Austria).
