Christmas in the mountains - There is a very special pre-Christmas atmosphere, when the Graben, a lovely pedestrian area, and the Rathausplatz is shrouded in darkness and the small lane between the little stalls of the Bruneck Christmas market is illuminated by a myriad of lights, when the air is filled with the scent of freshly baked biscuits and you hear some very soft and idyllic music somewhere in the background while skilled local craftsmen are producing a variety of splendid objects such as exceptionally beautiful crèche figures in Father Christmas’ Workshop. The Christmas market in Bruneck has always been meant to be a small, traditional and pleasant event and as such it has established itself and now occupies a very special place together with the Christmas markets of Bozen, Meran and Brixen.
